Until around 2008 country line dancing was all the rage. You had the Friendly Tavern and Prospectors down in New Jersey. As well as Montana West up in Quakertown, Pennsylvania. Other smaller venues littered the countryside as well. Much like the vintage swing dance fad before it, country line dancing was a fad coming to an end. But that is the thing about fads, they are just that. Serious dancers never stop just because the fad has come and gone. They just keep on dancing! So I suspect much like vintage swing dance’s true revival (happening now), we will soon see the revival of serious country line dancing. Not just a fad but a serious moment that will come to stay.
However, until that day comes the pickings will be slim. That is why we are so glad to have country line dancing back at the Ballroom On High once again! We have partnered with not one, but two folks dedicated to seeing country line dancing’s return.
However in order to have a true revival people are gonna have to know how to do the dances that are part of a country line dance. To that end Steve Carroll has been truly dedicated for many years now! If you make your way out to our Monday night country line dances you will find at least an hour of instruction and likely more. Steve knows how to instruct both the line dances you need to know as well as the couples/partner dances you will want to know. These lessons are part of the evenings event and require no extra cost or registration. So, just come out and enjoy!

POTTSTOWN TED (CONNER)
Country dancer Pottstown Ted has longed to see Country Dance return to Pottstown PA. To that end he reached out to the Ballroom On High to see about the possibility. Faryl was more than happy to invite Country Dancers back to the Ballroom On High. Though Ted has never taught or DJed before, his passion for country dancing drove him to jump right in! Pottstown Ted is also, well from Pottstown! So you got a local guy passionate about country dancing and helping to make Pottstown better. Again, partner and line dances are both offered at these dances. Ted offers these dances on most 4th Sundays of the month. For specific dates and details please visit our Calendar Page.
